GIMMEMAR is a Serbian-born artist whose greatest outlet for expression is through music. As an established DJ in her base of Toronto, she experiments with music curation on a regular basis. Being aware of how music is received and conveyed is her favourite element to demonstrate.
Singer/songwriter
Her 2017 debut CA:DA (meaning “Now” in Serbian) narrated a longing for love and showcased Gimmemar’s appreciation for melodic production paired with vulnerable and relatable storytelling. Gimmemar’s music is a fusion of dreamy alternative R&B, soul, indie pop with an electronic flare. Blended with layers of heartfelt lyrics and sound beds that hold her expression so eloquently, the artist's music provides listeners with a whimsical feeling that’s lasting. Her dedication and passion towards music and connecting with others as a creative is evident, and a lifelong journey.
Dj’ing
She saved up for turntables in 2010 and started practicing mixing while placing a few small gigs in her hometown Vancouver. After re-locating to New York, and finally settling in Toronto in 2015, she quickly attracted a variety of fashion brands, corporate companies and club residencies. Her music selection is not limited to one genre, but rather eclectically blending together R&B, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Funk, Afrobeats, Latin, Soul, Disco, Jazz, House, Indie-Pop and much more!
