“Take Care” of yourself my dear

11/8/11 1:20 PM | by: Gimmemar | 1 Comment

Album leaked 2 nights ago but I will definitely still buy it on November 15th to support (how else will Drizzy be able to afford the strippers? If we don’t support, he might just stop rapping about all that good-life shit!)
Warning: listening to it will give you mad chills. The production done by 40(Drake’s producer), and a few others (Jamie Smith from “The XX”, The Neptunes, Boi-1da) is insannnnnne! 40 sampled some tracks and re-vamped them into a ridiculous vibe. Most of them are however, his (few from the other’s) very own. Lets just say the engineer knows what the hell he’s doing and he’s damn good at it doing it. There is no I in TEAM and that definitely shows through Drake and 40′s friendship/partnership in their music.Without each other, who knows what would have been?
Again, Drake raps about his exciting life stories in many words and expressions of emotion. New girls he’s been with, new dudes he’s passed by, new money he’s earned, new crib he’s bought, new music he’s conquered , new places he’s been, relationship with fam and his peeps – you know, shit like that. But it’s fucking good. It’s not always what he says, it’s the way he says it and in the form of expressing that he does it in aka: GOOD MUSIC.
OK, so I’m a fan obviously, but if you aren’t very familiar – take a listen and you might just become a little bit in love (with the music). There are also a few cameos to look forward to: Stevie Wonder, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Chantal Kreviazuk and The Weeknd.
Here are a few that stood out for me (it was hard to narrow down, I seriously love ‘em all)
Over my dead body – girl Chantal Kreviazuk sounds like an angel in this one. Being the first song of the album, it shot chills down my whole body, no joke.
A little family love: “Look what you’ve done” (beautiful sound of piano and fuzz of a room full of people in the background + grandma’s recording at the end)
It’s The Motto bitch. YOLO (You only live once) – that phrase will def be over-used like a mutha’ until the next “motto” they come out with. Hey, at least it’s a good one. Carpe Diem baby, that’s the way I live life – to the fullest.
Camera’s / Good Ones Go – I like the bouncy ” how you mean, how you mean? Whatchu know about the team?” “she look like a star, but only on camera, only on camera” and the bits of background soul/r&B singing is amazing.
Crew Love feat The Weeknd: sick, ass, beat.
I will definitely practice some booty poppin to this song. Boom boom boooooommdiddy dum dumm

Thank you for your kind words

Drake. You make a woman feel so good. My gym work outs wouldn’t be complete without your music. My walks through the city wouldn’t be the same if I wasn’t plugged into your tunes. And most of all, my ability to express my thoughts through words would not be as strong as they are right now if it wasn’t for the verses you write. And Canada wouldn’t be as cool either…
Thank You. I’m proud of you too. And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Here’s a few words for you:

You know you do, that’s just it.

That’s why you make these songs and they become a hit.

I see you’ve made it onto the A-lists, now that’s something to brag about

Seems as though you still figuring it out,

But that’s just life

The woman who locks it down with you one day, call her: lucky wife

You rap about everything we want to hear,

At times, the mood of a song makes me want to shed a tear

My dreams increase in value and they’re in slot number one

I’m ready to pull the trigger on the gun, to start the fun

Brraap Braap

B’ you be killin ‘em even with that baby bump

She’s been playing on my speakers since I was a pre-teen. I remember the days of Destiny’s Child when my friends and I created dances to “bugaboo” and “jumpin jumpin”. Or the days I would cry listening to “Dangerously in Love”, I was probably 12 and thought I was “in love” (with a boy who didn’t even know I existed, go figure). And I’m sure that when you play her music, you suddenly come across an enormous wind of emotion or your ego boosts up and suddenly you feel like a d-d-d-diva right?

She’s grown into a beautiful woman as I am growing into one myself, so I have a lot of love and respect for this lady right here. I’ve probably mentioned before, she is a Virgo (just like me) and in that case, I can relate to her in many ways…we should just be friends, seriously. I’m still waiting to find myself a legendary Sagittarius dude such as her hubby the one and only Jigga man…but that’s another story.

I was so happy when my Harpers Bazaar came in the mail this morning, to see Beyonce gracing the cover – shot by Terry Richardson. The interview featured in this issue was a pleasure to read. Need she be any more inspiring to the women of the world?

“I am finally at the stage in my life where I am not so concerned with other people’s opinions about my life decisions. It is so liberating to really know what I want, what truly makes me happy, what I will not tolerate. I have learned that it is no one else’s job to take care of me but me.”

Thank you Beyonce for empowering women and making us feel fabulous. You can see the passion, love and effort you have put forward to get to where you are today. I still await the coming years to grow into someone as inspiring as you.

I found love in: We Found Love

10/19/11 9:45 PM | by: Gimmemar | No Comments

My bitch Rihanna is just killin’ it more and more everyday.Musically,fashion-wise, female-wise, icon-wise. She’s justfuckin’ killin’ it.

Loved this song from the first 2 seconds of listening to it. It had me jumping up and down, shaking booty in front of mirror and pushing the repeat button right after it finished.

The music video just topped off the imagery to the mood of the track. I didn’t expect the type of story layed down in the video, but I LOVE IT! The sexy guy, the grungy clothing, the sex, the drugs, the fun, the kissing. PERFECT!

Ahhh the feeling of finding love, being in love, doing crazy things together and sharing those moments like there is no tomorrow. Fuck, I’d like to find me some of that again sometime. For now, I will drop into “lala land” while I watch this video…
